Hi, I’m Rica. Welcome to my little corner of the internet—Pinay Prairie Mama.
I’m a Filipina wife and mama of two, now living out on prairie soil. My days are filled with the ordinary rhythms of homemaking—folding laundry, cooking meals, wiping tears, chasing toddlers, and trying (sometimes failing) to keep up with it all. If you’re a mama, you probably know the feeling well.
But my story has not always been rooted in Christ.

🌑 The Years I Spent in the New Age
Before motherhood, I was deeply involved in the New Age. I chased manifestation, ascension teachings, crystals, astrology—you name it. I thought I was on a path of “spiritual awakening,” but the more I searched, the emptier I became.
When I became a mother, that emptiness turned into desperation. I needed peace, purpose, and grounding. But the New Age only gave me more striving, more confusion, and more self-focus.
✝️ Motherhood Became My Turning Point
It was in the middle of sleepless nights and survival-mode motherhood that the Lord met me. Through the cries of my newborn and the exhaustion of caring for a toddler, He pulled me out of deception and into His truth.
Motherhood became my sanctification. It was the place where God stripped away the lies I believed and showed me the beauty of serving Him in the home.
I learned that the work of a mother is not small—it is kingdom work. Every meal cooked, every prayer whispered over my children, every ordinary act of love… all of it matters to Him.

🌿 Why I Write Here
I started Pinay Prairie Mama because I know there are women like me—moms who have been caught up in the New Age, or who are just now realizing its emptiness. Maybe you’re searching for peace, or maybe you’ve already left and are trying to rebuild life in Christ while raising children. Either way, I want you to know: you’re not alone.
Here, I’ll be sharing:
- My testimony of leaving the New Age.
- Encouragement for mothers in the beautiful calling of homemaking.
- Biblical truths that contrast the lies of the culture.
- Honest reflections about motherhood, identity, and wellness in Christ.

🌸 A Final Word for You
Mama, the world may not see the value of your work at home. The New Age may try to lure you back with promises of “freedom” and “empowerment.” But in Christ, we find the only true peace, purpose, and joy.
If you’re weary, questioning, or just longing for encouragement, I pray this space feels like a quiet place to rest your soul and be reminded of the truth:
Your calling at home is beautiful, and in Christ, you are exactly where you’re meant to be.
Welcome, friend. Stay a while. You belong here.
